Puerto Rico was one of the hardest-hit areas in the world last week, when coronaviral infections reached more than 50,000, with a death toll of about 10,000 people.

But the death toll in the island has now topped 1 million, including more than 100 deaths.

More than 100,000 of the island’s residents are under protective orders from the federal government, and the death tally has now surpassed 5 million.

The island is under a federal quarantine, and there is no clear plan for how to handle the new coronaviruses.
