Kaycee Rice’s father: I am still struggling with the grief of the death of my son

Kayceer Rice, a Queensland father of four, said he still struggled to understand the loss of his son.

He said the tragedy was a reminder of the need to keep a positive outlook on life.

“I still struggle with the loss, because he was just such a sweet person and a great father, he just didn’t have any kids, he was a single parent,” he said.

Kaycee, who had a heart condition, died after he fell into a pool at a resort in the southern Queensland city of Brisbane.

Queensland police are investigating the death.

Mr Rice said Kayce was a quiet, loving and caring young man who loved sports and the outdoors.

In a statement to News.co.uk, Kayceee’s father, Wayne Rice, said Kaye loved life, loved his dogs and was a very talented soccer player.

But he also said Kay, who was known to family as Mr Rice, was a father of two girls.

His wife, Katelyn, was pregnant with their first child when Kay died.

Rice said he wanted to make sure the public knew the impact his son had had on the community.

The father said he was proud of his children’s work in the Queensland Government, but was struggling with how to deal with the sorrow he felt.
